ISLAMABAD: On Tuesday Maryam Nawaz’s counsel concluded cross examination on the National Accountability Bureau’s(NAB) star witness Wajid Zia in Avenfield reference filed by the NAB on the orders of the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz and Captain(R) Safdar all had appeared before the Accountability court as they failed to present themselves in last two hearing owing to inclement weather.
The case is being heard by Judge Muhammad Bashir, who today adjourned the hearing until April 20th.
Wajid Zia now has been summoned by the Court on the April 23rd for Alazeezia Steel Mill reference.
It is pertinent to mention that sources privy to development stated that the NAB has acquired new documents from London which state that the Sharif family’s London apartments were transferred to the possession of offshore companies Nielson and Nescoll in 1993-1995.
According to NAB sources, the Avenfield properties were transferred to the offshore companies at the time when Nawaz Sharif’s children, Hussain and Hasan, were young and did not have any source of income.
Therefore, they maintained that former premier Nawaz Sharif was the real owner, the charge which he has always denied.
