Avenfield Reference: Wajid Zia admits Nawaz did not receive salary from Capital FZE

ISLAMABAD: Nawaz Sharif’s counsel Khawaja Harris resumed the cross examination of the prosecution star witness Wajid Zia in Avenfield reference filed by the National Accountability Bureau(NAB) on the orders of Supreme Court of Pakistan.

As yesterday, Wajid Zia who headed the Joint Investigation Team formed by the Supreme Court of Pakistan probing Sharifs offshore company in the wake of Panama Papers case, told the Accountability Court that two members of his JIT obtained documents from  Jebel Ali Free Zone Authority (JAFZA) in a single day.

However today, Zia also admitted that Nawaz did not take any salary  from Capital FZE situated in Dubai.

But however, while questioning Zia on Nawaz’s contract of employment at Capital FZE, Haris asked him about the change of receivable salary of AED100,000 on the contract to AED10,000. To this, the prosecution witness expressed unawareness saying the employment contract was not prepared in front of him. But the actual amount of salary was AED100,000, which was deducted on paper, Zia accepted.

It is pertinent to mention, that on this finding which relates to Nawaz’s salary account in (JFZA), the Supreme Court of Pakistan ousted Nawaz Sharif from the premiership in Panama verdict on July 28, 2017.

Today Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz did not attend the court proceedings due to the inclement weather.

Court has adjourned the hearing till Friday, NewsOne reported.
