Ayyan again files contempt petition against govt over travel ban

KARACHI: Supermodel Ayyan Ali has once again filed a contempt of court petition against the government for re-insertion of her name in the Exit Control List (ECL).

Hearing the petition, the Sindh High Court bench issued notices to federal interior secretary and others.

Ayyan had made Ministry of Interior and Federal Investigation Agency as respondents in her petition.

In her plea, the supermodel contended that her name had again been placed on the ECL despite court orders against it. This is a sheer violation of court directives and tantamount to contempt of court, she said through her counsel.

FIA officials on Wednesday [June 15] had stopped Ayyan from flying abroad by stopping her on Karachi airport.

Ayyan was not allowed to board a Dubai-bound flight despite her name was struck off ECl on SHC orders.

The officials were of the view that interior ministry has so far not sent any notification to immigration authorities regarding the move, therefore they cannot allow her to fly abroad.
