LAHORE: Hearing a suo motu notice on various public welfare issues, Chief Justice of Pakistan Saqib Nisar has stopped the civil servants of Punjab’s bureaucracy from protesting against the arrest of Ahad Cheema on Ashiyana Scheme scandal.
Expressing anger over the conduct of few bureaucrats the chief justice remarked that whosoever does not want to work can tender resignation. He also backed National Accountability Bureau, adding that no one would harass anti- graft body which is acting as per law.
CJP Saqib Nisar has also asked reasons for Punjab’s assembly adopting resolution against NAB for violating human rights.
The resolution was passed on Wednesday 28 February drawing criticism from the opposition parties.
He also added that who ever is summoned by NAB must co operate with them.
On Wednesday Punjab Assembly passed resolution against NAB condemning the arrest of Ahad Cheema and its treatment against the accused as violation of human rights.
Furthermore, CJP questioned that “if the Supreme Court summons any person, would the Parliament pass resolution against it?”
Punjab Government and NAB are in conflicting mode on Ahad Cheema’s arrest, as the latter was arrested on corruption charges in Ashiyana Housing Scheme scandal.
The arrested bureaucrat is considered to be close and front man of chief minister of Punjab Shehbaz Sharif.
