CJP summons law secretary over extension of accountability court judge

ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan has summoned law secretary over the matter of extension of Accountability Court’s judge Mohammad Bashir who is hearing critical corruption cases against Sharifs and Ishaq Dar on the orders of Supreme Court of Pakistan in Panama Papers Case.

The apex court then bounded the anti-graft body National Accountability Bureau to conclude these cases within 6 months as one of the Supreme Court’s judge would monitor the overall proceedings till the conclusion of references against Sharifs.

However today  the Accountability Court has exempted former prime minister Nawaz Sharif from appearing before the court owing to his ill health, newsone reported.

As judge Mohammad Bashir began hearing the Flagship and Al-Azizia reference, Nawaz’s counsel Khawaja Haris pleaded the court that his client could not stay for a long time to attend the proceedings, therefore seeking excuse from the court which was later granted.

A similar excuse was adopted by Nawaz’s counsel on Monday.
