CJP takes suo motu notice of Zainab murder case

ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Saqib Nisar on Wednesday has taken suo moto notice of rape and murder of the minor girl, Zainab.


The CJP has directed IG Punjab to submit a report within 24 hours about the incident.

Earlier, Chief Justice Lahore High Court Justice Mansoor Ali Shah had taken notice and has summoned reports from sessions judge Kasur and police officials.

Zainab, a 7-year-old little girl from Kasur went missing on January 4, when she was allegedly abducted. Her body was found on Tuesday by the police. She had been raped and strangled and left in a trash heap.

Today, the Kasur city of Punjab erupted in riots as residents protested against police inaction over the murder incident.

Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa had taken notice on the murder of Zainab, following the father’s plea to arrest the killer of Zainab.
