Contempt Case: SC shifts hearing to another bench against Faisal Raza Abidi

ISLAMABAD: On Thursday, the Supreme Court of Pakistan shifted the contempt case against fire brand and ex Senator Faisal Raza Abidi to anther bench.


Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar on 17th April, summoned the former stalwart of Pakistan People’s Party to appear before the apex court for allegedly passing anti-judiciary remarks in a show telecasted on a private news channel.

As today, Abdi’s video was played in the Supreme Court, where the former was allegedly passing contemptuous remarks against the honorable judge.

More ever, the Chief Justice expressed anger over the Abidi’s standing position, remarking the later does not have shame whatsoever he spoke about the judiciary.

Whereas Justice Ijazul Ahsan inquired if Abidi’s counsel has a licence to practice law at the Supreme Court.

The bench also rejected the counsel’s plea to shift the hearing to Karachi.

However, the court evebtually approved sending the contempt case to another bench.
