Crackdown against corrupt officials is on the cards: Ch. Nisar

ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar has said corruption in the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) is intolerable.

“Corruption and NADRA are anti-thesis and cannot go together,” the minister said while addressing a press conference at the NADRA Headquarters in Islamabad on Tuesday.

Nisar said he tried eliminating mafias in NADRA and the passport office, and launched a crackdown against the agent mafia.

“I am still not satisfied with the actions taken against corruption prevalent in NADRA,” Nisar added.

The interior minister revealed that not only the registration authority provided foreigners with identity cards, it also recruited aliens.

“Now I want to eradicate corruption in NADRA as rapidly as it was spread in the past,” The minister vowed.

Nisar informed he would soon launch an SMS service for assisting the applicants during the process of passport and identity cards issuance.
