Culprits involved in Maulana Sami-ul-Haq’s murder to be arrested soon: Shehryar Afridi

Nowshera: State Minister for Interior Shehryar Afridi on Monday said he would present a detailed report to the prime minister regarding assassination of Maulana Sami-ul-Haq.


He was talking to media at Darul Uloom Haqqania after offering condolence to Hamid-ul-Haq, son of Maulana Sami-ul-Haq.

“Maulana Samiul Haq was a great personality and his role in seminary reforms in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was exemplary,” the minister said.

The minister further said that action would be taken against all the miscreant elements involved in damaging public, private properties and vehicles during the protests across the country.

“Police has arrested over 670 persons involved in rioting on first day of protest,” the minister added.

Famous cleric Maulana Sami Ul Haq was assassinated by unknown assailants  on Friday.

Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-S) chief Maulana Sami ul Haq had been stabbed to death at his residence in Rawalpindi.

The former senator was laid to rest near Darul Uloom Haqqania.
