Deputy Defence Minister Russia felicitates Pakistan’s progress against terrorism, meets COAS and Naval Cheif

RAWALPINDI: Deputy minister of Defence Russia called upon the Army and Naval Chiefs of Pakistan today and hailed Pakistan’s insurmountable sacrifices against the ongoing war against terrorism.

Colonel General Alexander V. Fomin appreciated on Tuesday Pakistan Army’s achievements against terrorism.

The colonel had called on the Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa at General Headquarters, according to Inter-Services Public Relations.

General Alexander showed eagerness for a better relation between the two countries who have had a torrid relation in the past, He emphasized the need and requirement of greater cooperative and collaborative approach among the global community to defeat the menace of extremism.

Regional security situation and matters of mutual interest including enhancement of bilateral defence and security cooperation were also a topic of discussion, an ISPR statement said.

Naval Chief’s meeting with Colonel General Alexander

Deputy Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation, Colonel General Alexander V. Fomin, called on Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi at Naval Headquarters, Islamabad. Upon arrival at Naval Headquarters, Deputy Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation was received by Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi.

A smartly turned out contingent of Pakistan Navy presented Guard of Honour.

Thereafter, Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi introduced the visiting dignitary to the Principal Staff Officers. During the meeting detailed discussions on bilateral defence collaboration in diverse fields were held.

The visiting dignitary lauded the commitment and performance of Pakistan Navy in maintaining peace and stability in the regional maritime domain.

It is expected that the visit will further enhance defence collaboration and strengthen defence ties between the two countries in general and navies in particular. Director General Public Relations (Navy).
