Five of a family killed as jeep plunges into Sawat river


PESHAWAR: At least five members of a family were killed when a jeep plunged into Swat River near Sattar area, Bahrain, District Swat on Saturday, an official of the Bahrain Police Station confirmed.


According to Swat Police Control, a jeep bearing registration No. CH 124 with five members of a family including two women and three males plunged into Swat River when the driver lost control over the vehicle.

Five members of an ill-fated family were on board the jeep, confirmed by an official of the Bahrain Police Station. The official further added that two men, an elder age 60 to 65 years old and another 40 to 45 years old were recovered from the Swat river while three other including two women were still missing and search for their bodies are under way.

Soon after the incident, the local residents rushed to the area and started rescue operation on self-help basis. The rescue workers also reached to the site of the incident and started relief and search operation for the recovering of those missing persons.

Those recovered were shifted to Maidan Hospital, police confirmed.

The officials of the Bahrain Police Station also confirmed to APP on phone that the family is hailing from Uturr, Kalam, District Swat. “We have informed the hairs of the deceased family and they are on their way to Bahrain,” he said.
