Four police officials gunned down in Quetta


QUETTA: Four unidentified gunmen martyred four police personnel on Satellite Town s Muneer Mengal Road while left one injured.


This is the second attack on police in Satellite Town in the month.

Four police personnel after patrolling the area were resting in a room at a petrol pump when four attackers entered the room and opened fire. Two personnel, Abdul Nafay and Inayatullah were killed on the spot. The other two Ismail and Sajid were shifted to a private hospital where one of them succumbed to injuries while under treatment.

Earlier on January 14, a polio vaccination centre in Satellite Town was attacked which claimed as many as 15 lives including 13 policemen. At least 24 were left wounded in the attack.

All the injured persons were shifted to Combined Military Hospital (CMH) however bodies of eight martyrs were laid to rest in native towns.

Later, the National Assembly (NA) was told that the target was not polio centre but police personnel. Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and leaders of different political parties expressed sympathies with the families of the victims.

On January 19, six Frontier Corps (FC) were martyred in a blast that targeted a vehicle patrolling an area in Quetta outskirts. An IED, planted in Marget area was remotely operated as soon as the security forces passed by. Baloch Liberation Army had claimed responsibility of the attack.
