ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has recalled its envoy, Sohail Mahmood from India to consult over the report of harassment against the Pak embassy staff in New- Delhi.
Speaking at weekly presser, FO Spokesperson Dr Mohammad Faisal said the foreign office will hold meeting with the high commissioner and would consult over recent incidents of harassing of the embassy’s staff.
DR.Faisal said the Indian authorities have not taken measures to protect Pakistani diplomats and their families in India, adding that the Islamabad g lodged protests over the matter with the Indian deputy high commissioner.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a statement on Tuesday, informed the staff and their families have been facing harassment, intimidation and “outright violence” from Indian state agencies.
The incidents are part of a planned trend that started last week on Wednesday, when a senior diplomat’s car was stopped and damaged. The following day the Pakistani deputy high commissioners’ vehicle was chased by unidentified individuals, who dragged the driver out of the car and hurled abuses at him.
