The court will take up another similar 31 petitions on delimitations of constituencies on Thursday.

On Tuesday, Justice Umar Farooq announced the verdict on a petition against the delimitations exercise and declared void delimitations of districts Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Lower Dir, Jhelum, Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Chakwal, and Battagram.

The IHC announced verdicts on 40 petitions of the 108 complaints lodged against delimitations.

According to the procedure, the ECP follows a set formula for the number of provincial and National Assembly seats each district is allotted.

However, the final mapping within the districts remains largely open to controversy.

The delimitation of electoral constituencies was held under population census that was held last year. As per the preliminary list, the first constituency of National Assembly will be NA-1 Chitral instead of Peshawar while the last constituency will be Lasbella Balochistan.

In Punjab, the constituency of National and Provincial Assembly would begin from Attock.

The constituencies of NA in KP would be from NA-1 to NA-39 while in FATA, the constituencies of NA from 40 to 51.

In the federal capital Islamabad, the constituencies of NA would be NA-52 and NA-54. In Punjab, the constituencies of NA would be from NA-55 to NA-195. The first constituency of Punjab Assembly would be Attock and last would be Rajanpur.

In Sindh, the constituencies of NA would be from NA-196 to NA-256 Karachi. In Balochistan, the constituencies of NA would be from NA-256 Qila Saifullah Sheerani to NA 272 Gawadar.
