KARACHI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Imran Khan Thursday congratulated former Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Zulfiqar Ali Mirza for sweeping the local government elections in his hometown Badin.
“Khan telephoned Mirza to convey his ‘felicitations’ after Badin became the graveyard of the PPP for the grand old party of Sindh could not even win a single seat in the firebrand’s town,” the PTI leader Imran Ismael said.
According to unofficial and unconfirmed results, the Zulfiqar Mirza Group candidates emerged as victorious in election for the Badin Municipal Committee much to the shock of PPP.
Mirza said his group would clean-sweep the local government election in his hometown. I have lived up to my claims,” he boasted.
Meanwhile the PPP candidate and district general secretary, Dr. Aziz Memon has also lost the election to Mirza group.
In Nindo and Taluka Tando Bagho areas, the Zulfiqar Mirza Group also emerged as victorious. In the Golarchi Town Committee, the four candidates supported Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) remained successful while two candidates from Zulfiqar Mirza group also won seats.
The PPP candidates in various union councils, town committees and municipal committees were trailing by the time of the filing of this report.
