Jemima Goldsmith to sue Reham Khan for defamation

LONDON: Ex-wife of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) Imran Khan, Jemima Goldsmith on Wednesday vowed to sue Reham Khan if her book was published in the United Kingdom.

Jemima in her tweet wrote that she had been “assured” that Reham’s book was too “libellous” to be published in the UK, she would sue on behalf of her son for defamation and breach of privacy if it did see the light of day.

“I will be suing for defamation & breach of privacy on behalf of my (then) 16-year-old son and in relation to the moronic, re-hashed Zionist conspiracy theories,” Jemima said in her tweet.

It all started when former wife of Imran Khan, Reham Khan on Saturday in a series of tweets alleged that actor and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) supporter Hamza Ali Abbasi has been threatening her since August 2017.

Abbasi on Friday tweeted that he had the “very unfortunate experience of reading a manuscript of Reham Khan’s book”.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf spokesperson Fawad Chaudhry alleged some key leaders of the Pakistan Muslim League-(Nawaz) and Pakistan’s ex envoy to Washington Hussain Haqqani of being behind a book authored by  Reham Khan.

“This is  the Raiwind Network which is being run by Hussain Haqqani,” the spokesman said.

However on Monday,  Reham Khan’s former husband Ijaz Rehman, former cricketer Wasim Akram, British Pakistani businessman Zulfi Bukhari and Anila Khawaja, British Pakistani female activist linked with PTI has send defamation notice to Reham Khan over the contents of her upcoming book.

In the book, Reham Khan describes Anila Khawaja as the ‘Chief of the Harem’.

According to notice, Reham Khan accused her first husband Ijaz Rehman of beating her and declared him responsible for separation.

Former cricketer Wasim Akram said that he will take legal action against Reham Khan, adding that he had met Reham Khan only once. “My late wife was a great women, Reham is doing it for money,” former cricketer added.
