JUP leader survives gun attack in Karachi


KARACHI: Jamiat Ulema-e-Pakistan (JUP) leader Aqeel Anjam survived an attempt on his life in Karachi on Saturday, police said.


The attack took place in Orangi Zaman Town.

According to the police, unknown gunmen on motorbikes opened fire on Aqeel Anjum’s car, but he escaped unhurt.

The assailants managed to escape.

The JUP leader was targeted at a time when he was returning home after offering Zuhr prayers.

Police initiated a probe into the attack.

This comes three days after Amjad Farid Sabri, a famed Sufi singer, was gunned down in Liaquat area of Karachi.
