Karachi: Police detains 12 in raids


KARACHI: Police nabbed 12 suspects in raids across Karachi and recovered large cache of weapons.


According to SSP South Dr. Farooq, police raided Mehmoodabad area and three persons were taken into custody after searching of several houses and under-construction homes in the area.

He added that large number of weapons, buried under the compound of an under-construction house, were recovered. The SSP went on to say that the weapons were hidden by a group of a political party for using them in acts of sabotage.

The seized weapons and explosives included four ball bombs, an Awan bomb, two shotguns, two pistols and bullets, Farooq added.

Moreover, a suspected criminal identified as Akhtar Kohistani was arrested in injured condition following an encounter in North Nazimabad. Police recovered weapons from the injured suspect who is said to be involved in different crimes.

Two suspected street criminals named Shafiq Channa and Malik Rafaqat were nabbed in a wounded state after an encounter with law enforcement agencies at Shahrah-e-Faisal area of the metropolis. Arms and stolen items were recovered from the suspect. Two more suspects were arrested from Orangi Town area whereas five foreign nationals were arrested from Gulshan-e-Maymar area of Karachi.

In a shooting incident in Patel Para, a man was injured.
