KARACHI: Karachi police arrested three men on Monday for making hoax bomb calls.
According to the details, the fake calls made police, bomb disposal squad and rescue workers rush to two parks and a petrol pump in North Karachi and a busy Sunday bazaar in New Karachi.
Officials said that the calls triggered fear and panic among the people. Police told media that all these places were crowded and were evacuated by the authorities to avoid any eventuality during search operations.
The arrested suspects told the police that they made calls on the order of their employer, owner of the petrol pump, who asked them to make hoax calls in order to disperse people protesting in front of the petrol pump against load shedding.
Suspect named Sajawal directed the security guard named Shakir to make the fake calls on the orders of petrol pump owner, Adnan.
Another employee of the petrol pump named Asif also confessed to being involved in the crime. Suspects told the police that Adnan wanted the protest to end because it was hurting his business.
