ISLAMABAD: Eleven dead bodies of Pakistanis who lost their lives in boat tragedy in Libya reached Pakistan on Wednesday, NewsOne reported.
According to Foreign Office Spokesperson, the dead bodies were dispatched via SV 722 flight which arrived at Benazir Bhutto International Airport.
These include Ikram-ul-Haq, Muhammad Qasim Baig from Mandi Bahauddin, Waleed Akram, Luqman Ali, Kashif Jamil, Azmat Bibi, Mazhar Hussain and Farhan Ali from Gujrat, Mirza Ghulam Fareed from Rawalpindi, Tanzeel-ur-Rehman from Sialkot and Muhammad Aziz from Sargodha.
Libya is the main gateway for migrants trying to cross to Europe by sea, though numbers have dropped sharply since July as Libyan factions and authorities – under pressure from Italy and the European Union- have begun to block departures.
Zuwara was a top departure point until a local backlash against smuggling in 2015.
