LNG project inevitable to meet energy needs: President


Minister for Petroleum Shahid Khaqan Abbasi briefed President Mamnoon Hussain on the LNG project in Islamabad on Wednesday.


The President said the LNG project is inevitable to meet the energy needs. He said the project is transparent and corruption-free.

Meanwhile, President Mamnoon Hussain has said lifting of sanctions against Iran will open new avenues for Islamabad and Tehran to enhance trade and investment and increase cooperation in energy sector.

Talking to outgoing ambassador of Iran Alireza Haghighian in Islamabad, he said Pakistan greatly values its fraternal ties with Iran and considers it a close friend.

The President hoped the two countries will achieve the five billion dollar mark in the next three years set by the leaderships of the two countries.

The President said that the work on 700 km of the Iran-Pakistan Gas Pipeline from Nawabshah to Gwadar will commence shortly and the work on laying of pipeline will be completed after the removal of sanctions on Iran.
