Martyred Colonel Sohail Abid laid to rest with full military honours: ISPR

RAWALPINDI: The funeral prayers of Colonel Sohail Abid of Military Intelligence, who embraced martyrdom on Wednesday during an operation near Killi Almas, Balochistan, was held in Rawalpindi on Thursday, and he was laid to rest at Bobari near Bara Kahu with full military honours, ISPR reported.


According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa attended the funeral prayer.

On Wednesday, security forces killed a high-value target of banned terror outfit Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ), along with two other terrorists, involved in the killings of more than 100 innocent people of Hazara community and police personnel.

“During operation three terrorists including 2 suicide bombers and a high value target(HVT) Salman Badeni LeJ head of Balochistan killed.  Colonel Sohail Abid of Military Intelligence embraced shahadat while 4 soldiers got injured including 2 critical.”, the statement stated.

Earlier in day, Funeral prayer of the slain military officer Colonel Sohail Abid, offered at his home town Vehari.

Prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif, former president Asif Ali Zardari and National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan paid rich tributes to the martyred officer.
