NAB officer tortured in a raid at the residence of former AJK president


MIRPUR: A senior official of the anti-graft National Accountability Bureau (NAB) was allegedly tortured in Mirpur, Azad Kashmir on Wednesday when a NAB team raided the residence of former AJK president Raja Zulqarnain.


According to sources, NAB team raided the residence of Raja Zulqarnain in connection with investigations of rental power scandal.

Former AJK president is being investigated for Rs128 million corruption reference while his son is already under custody of the NAB.

Assistant Director NAB Asghar Khan was tortured by unknown people during the raid.

Sardar Abid, AJK Information Minister, said that NAB has no jurisdiction in Azad Kashmir, which has its own anti-graft laws.

Abid claimed that the raid was carried out without any permission.

But a NAB spokesman maintained that the raid was conducted in accordance with the law, adding AJK government was also informed prior to the raid
