Naval Exercise: 6th AMAN 2019 to start Friday

KARACHI: Hosted by Pakistan’s Navy, AMAN exercise 2019 will start from February 8th, Friday.


46 Countries including host Pakistan will participate in multinational maritime exercise AMAN-2019, which will continue till February 12th.

While addressing the media, Commander Pakistan Fleet Vice Admiral Amjad Niazi, informed that the exercise is spread over two phases and contingents from 46 countries will participate in this year’s drill.

This is 6th AMAN exercise which is being held since 2007 after every two years.

According to the Press Release issued by Directorate of Public Relations, the exercise has two major phases: Harbour and Sea.

Furthermore, three days International Maritime Conference will be held on the topic “Global geopolitics in transition; Rethinking maritime dynamics in the Indian Ocean, the press release further added.

This is 6th AMAN exercise which is being held since 2007 after every two years.

Niazi added that an international maritime conference shall also be held on the occasion.

In January, two Japanese Maritime Self-Defence Force P3C aircraft of Deployed Maritime Force for Anti-Piracy Enforcement (DAPE) visited the PNS Mehran in Karachi for pre-AMAN-19 exercise activity.

The Japanese aircrew participated in various events including search and rescue (SAR) and counter-piracy (CP) exercises along with navy aircrew. The Japanese contingent also visited maritime and Pakistan Air Force (PAF) museums to learn about the historic achievements of the two forces.
