Nawaz, Maryam and Safdar to record statements in Avenfield reference on Friday

ISLAMABAD: On Wednesday, the Accountability Court judge Mohammad Bashir ruled that former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz and her husband Captain(R) Safdar will record statements on Friday in Avenfield reference, which deals with London’s flats of Sharifs own allegedly by money laundering.


Accountability Court-I Judge Mohammad Bashir observed that the accused will be given a questionnaire today with regards to their recording of statements on Friday.

At the last hearing on Wednesday (yesterday), National Accountability Bureau (NAB) prosecutor Sardar Muzaffar Abbasi had pleaded the court to record the statement of Nawaz and his family in the Avenfield case.

Whereas, the court has adjourned the hearing uptil May 21st in Al-Azizia reference against Nawaz filed by the National Accountability Bureau(NAB) on the orders of Supreme Court.

As hearing began today, Nawaz’s counsel Khawaja Harris cross examined the prosecution star witness Wajid Zia, as he concluded recording statement on Tuesday.

Wajid Zia was the designated head of Supreme Court formed Joint Investigation Team, ex Director of FIA, who probed the off shore companies of Sharif family after the revelations which were made in Panama leaks.
