Ex-Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday recorded his statement before the joint investigation team tasked to investigate the Model Town incident from Kot Lakhpat jail.
The JIT, headed by IG Motorway AD Khawaja, had set a questionnaire comprising of 22 questions that were presented before Sharif who answered them in his barrack.
Accountability court had permitted the JIT to record statement of Sharif pertaining the case.
On June 17, 2014, 14 people were killed 100 others were wounded when police instigated an assault on Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) followers assembled outside the residence of PAT Chief Mohammad Tahirul Qadri in Model Town, Lahore.
The judicial inquiry report following the incident had attributed then Law Minister Rana Sanaullah and the Punjab police for what had occurred that day.
The statement of Sharif could not be recorded on March 18 as the statement of other Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) were also been recorded that day.
JIT also had permission of accountability court to interrogate statement of ex-Railway Minister Khwaja Saad Rafique in camp prison regarding the incident.
Iqbal Hussain Shah, the investigative officer, had sought the court on Tuesday to get authorization to investigate Rafique which was approved by the Judge Syed Najmul Hassan Bukhari.
JIT is expected to question Rafique in coming days.
