Next elections are referendum: Nawaz Sharif

LAHORE:  Former prime minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif said that the next elections are a referendum against the ones who don’t give respect to the sanctity of vote.

He said this while addressing the Central General Council of Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) saying that he is standing to fight for the vote’s sanctity.

On Senate elections, Nawaz lambasted the entire process of Senate elections, however did not name anyone, saying that both the leaders lost and PML(N) won in the eyes of the people.

It appears to be a reference against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan, Pakistan People’s Party co- chairman Asif Ali Zardari lambasting both the leaders as “liars and hypocrite”.

He also added when he was the premier of Pakistan for 4 years, he always thought about taking the Country out of the load shedding crisis, which was extremely difficult and unimaginable in 2013.

Nawaz also backed chief minister of Punjab Shehbaz Sharif saying, the latter has outperformed other provinces in progress and developmental work.

“People ask that what Punjab government has done in 10 years. I would like to tell them that no other province achieved what Punjab under the leadership of Shehbaz has achieved”.

3 times former ousted premier Nawaz Sharif also claimed that when he took the reigns of the government in 2013, Pakistan was in a security crisis, economy was fragile but PML(N) took Pakistan out of the deepening crisis.

“We pledged to rid the nation from load shedding  since coming into  power in 2013” adding, whenever incumbent prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi requests him to accompany him while inaugurating the projects initiated by  Nawaz; I just say “You go, because I am disheartened after what I have received  after serving the country” lamented Nawaz.

Earlier, addressing the convention the newly elected president of  Pakistan Muslim League(Nawaz) Shehbaz Sharif, who is also the chief minister of Punjab said  that Nawaz was, is and will always be the ‘Quaid’ of PMLN.

He also lambasted political opponents for making tall claims but performing nothing, however it is PML(N) which has delivered to the people, said Shehbaz.

Earlier today, Shehbaz was elected as PML (N) president unopposed, as no other member from the  party contended for the slot.
