KARACHI: A close friend of former President Asif Ali Zardari, and the former chairman of fisheries, has on Saturday been released six hours after he was arrested by intelligence agencies outside city court.

Earlier today, as soon as Dr Morai came out of the court of South Additional District and Session Judge, along with his wife and lawyer Khawaja Naveed Advocate, he was surrounded by Rangers cars near Denso Hall Market on MA Jinnah Road. Masked officials, wearing plain clothes, came out of one of the cars and seated him with himself. When the wife of Dr Morai shouted at them, the officials told her that her husband would be released shortly.

The intelligence officials also took with them the three cars of Dr Morai and his security guards. The doctor was accused in the murder of former Pakistan Steel Mill chairman Sajjad Hussain. He had also been arrested by Rangers upon his return from abroad and remained in Rangers’ custody for 90 days.

During this time, he had also been probed by Joint Investigation Team. When Morai was handed to the police after 90 days of Rangers’ custody, he was released on bail by the court. However, he was arrested by Rangers once again near Denso Hall today and shifted to unknown place. He was released six hours after the arrest.
