ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court on Tuesday has barred all TV channels from airing Game shows during the holy month of Ramazan, Newsone reported.
During the hearing of the case regarding code of conduct of morning shows and Ramzan transmissions, IHC judge Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui issued orders for all the TV channels to broadcast Azaan prayer five times a day.
“No breaking news is bigger than Azaan for a Muslim ,” Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui remarked.
He remarked that mostly Tv channels air nonsense and advertisements at the time of Azaan prayer.
“PTV has also stopped airing Azaan prayer,” he added.
Justice Siddiqui remarked that they would not let anyone make fun of the religion. He added that it is state’s responsibility to protect Islamic identity and ideology.
The representatives of regulatory bodies of media, including Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) director general were present in the hearing.
PEMRA director General told court that authority has issued a guideline to all the channels in this regard.
The court then adjourned the hearing till Wednesday.
