KARACHI: An oil tanker exploded and caught fire on Super Highway in Karachi early Wednesday morning, setting several other cars in its vicinity ablaze.
Two people in a car nearby were killed by the fire while four others were injured, Motorway police said. The injured were taken to a hospital nearby.
A trawler carrying several cars crashed into the tanker, which set it on fire as well.
The fire resulted in severe traffic jam on the highway, forcing the Motorway police to walk to the site of the incident. The police said a better assessment of the situation would only be possible once they reach the site.
Only one fire brigade van managed to reach the site but ran out of water shortly afterwards.
