Pakistan to release Indian prisoner on Humanitarian ground: FO

ISLAMABAD: The Foreign Office of Pakistan on Wednesday informed in a statement that Pakistan is going to release the ailing Indian prisoner on medical grounds.

Indian citizen Jatindra, who was arrested in 2014 is suffering from a blood disease, will be acquitted on humanitarian grounds. His citizenship was also confirmed by Indian authorities last month, the FO further added.

The statement also stated that 48 Pakistani citizens are imprisoned in India and Pakistan too expects India to release them on good will gesture.

Earlier this year, Pakistan set free 147 Indian fishermen in a good will gesture. The fishermen were released from Karachi’s Malir prison and sent to Lahore Cantt station, where they crossed into India through the Wagah border.
