LAHORE: Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) leader Khurrum Gandapur on Monday has submitted a plea in Lahore High Court (LHC) to launch a treason case against former prime minister Nawaz Sharif.
According to details, the petitioner alleged that former PM has insulted Pakistan and national institutions.
He requested court to launch treason case against Nawaz Sharif as his [Nawaz] statement was equal to treason.
In an interview to English newspaper, the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader expressed concern over country’s relative isolation in world community and apparent non-acceptance of its narrative on terrorism by the world powers.
“Militant organisations are active. Call them non-state actors, should we allow them to cross the border and kill 150 people in Mumbai? Explain it to me. Why can’t we complete the trial?” he asked.
Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi chaired a session of the National Security Committee (NSC) over former PM Nawaz Sharif’s recent “misleading media statement” on the 2008 Mumbai attacks.
