Pervaiz Rashid defends Women Protection bill

KARACHI: Responding to criticism against Women Protection bill adopted last week by Punjab Assembly, Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid on Monday said the ruling party takes pride in supporting women.

“On one side there are those who want to torture mothers, sisters and daughters, and on the other there are people who want to protect them. Government is standing with those who want to protect women and we are proud of it, he said while talking to media.

The minister said instead of repeating past mistakes “we should correct and overcome them” as war of words harms the country.

Responding to a question regarding Karachi operation, he said every citizen paid a heavy price, expressing the resolve to “restore lights of Karachi”.
