ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Thursday performed groundbreaking of Naya Pakistan Housing Scheme here at federal capital.
Addressing the ceremony, PM said the scheme will be expanded nationwide with an aim to put homeless under the roof. He said the scheme is being introduced with the cooperation of the private sector as the government lacked sufficient funds to launch the scheme on its own.
PM said eligible people will be chosen via a lucky draw for the scheme and the government will provide housing to the winners within a one-and-half year. He said 0.5 million houses will be built under the scheme and the price of the houses will be within the range of the lower class.
PM said a scheme is also being launched nationwide to develop houses in slums, beginning from slums of Islamabad. He said a new law is being introduced which will enable the salaried class to get loans on easy installments for building houses.
