PML-Q accepts PTI’s invitation to join Raiwind sit-in

LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) president, Shah Mehmood Qureshi on Thursday reached out to Pakistan Muslim League- Quaid (PML-Q) in its quest to make its call for protest against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif a national cause rather than a PTI versus Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) affair.

Led by Shah Mehmood Qureshi a special Panama Leaks-specific committee set up by party chairman Imran Khan held meeting with PML-Q leader Chaudhry Pervez Elahi.

Pervez Elahi agreed to the PTI’s offer and said the Panama probe should reach a logical end. “Every political party in the country as well as the entire nation is demanding a probe into the leaks,” Elahi said, and added the meeting had discussed many issues.

Former Punjab CM urged all parties to work together for the common national cause, leaving behind petty political differences.

Following the PTI leaders’ meeting with PML-Q leadership, Qureshi said that the Sharif family had become billionaires in a short span of time and that they would be held accountable.

PTI leader added that the people and political parties should stand united on Panama leaks, which is the most important issue in the country.

Earlier the PTI committee also contacted leadership of PPP, Jamat-e-Islami The PTI committee will also hold meetings with with Qaumi Watan Party chief Aftab Sherpao in Islamabad on April 15.

Since the revelation of Sharifs-owned offshore companies in the Panama Papers both the PPP and PTI have been calling for a forensic audit of these companies through a judicial commission headed the chief justice of Supreme Court.

But, questions remain whether the two opposition parties will be able to cooperate with each other in pressurising the government for such an inquiry.
