ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan People’s Party has nominated Sherry Rehman as the opposition leader in Senate, newsone reported.
However, it is learnt that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf would oppose PPP this time, as the party led by Imran Khan will bring its own candidate.
PTI would also seek the like minded opposition members to vote for their fielded candidate.
A formal announcement would be made by PPP Chairman Bilalwal Bhutto Zardari after consulting the party leadership.
Rehman, a senior figure in the PPP, has served as a senator since 2015 and was also Pakistan’s Ambassador to the US (2011-13) and Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting (2008-09) in the last government.
