ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) on Monday staged walkout during the National Assembly session in protest against Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan’s remarks in which the interior minister threatened to release a video of Dr Asim Hussain, which he said contained incriminating evidence against the PPP leader and close aide to Asif Ali Zardari.
Speaking in the house, Opposition Leader Khurshid Shah asked the government to release video of Dr Asim, but not to forget issuing that of PML-N leader Rana Mashood.
He asked the federation not to threaten the Sindh government with emergency or governor rule as things would spiral out of its control if it materialize the threats.
“We don’t know about extent of prime minister’s role in Chaudhry Nisar’s press conference. But when we indulge in blame game, we are shown the doors,” he said.
Khurshid Shah assured the house that issue of Rangers powers would be resolved after prime minister’s return, warning the government of backlash if personal attacks on PPP leaders continue.
He said the PPP was not a hurdle in extension of Rangers powers in Karachi. The PPP stalwart also criticized the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) for targeting Sindh.
