Punjab Assembly passes resolution against NAB

LAHORE: Punjab Assembly has passed resolution against National Accountability Bureau, calling NAB’s actions a violations of human rights.

The resolution was presented by Punjab’s law minister Rana Sanaullah, which was passed by a majority, also seeking to end the plea-bargain clause.

Plea-bargain clause gives the right to the accused to plead guilty and return back a few portion of looted wealth in exchange of a light conviction.

Punjab Government and NAB are in  conflicting mode on Ahad Cheema’s arrest, as the latter was arrested on corruption charges in Ashiyana Housing Scheme scandal.

The arrested bureaucrat is considered to be close and front man of chief minister of Punjab Shehbaz Sharif.
