Rangers power issue: PTI leads rally against Sindh Assembly’s resolution

KARACHI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Tuesday led a rally in Karachi over Sindh Assembly’s resolution that limited Rangers’ special powers.

The PTI staged the protest near the Sindh Assembly. According to details, PTI led rally from the Passport office to the Sindh Assembly. The demonstrators tried to move towards the Assembly but the police closed both gates of the Assembly’s highway and intercepted the participants from going to the Arts Council.

The police and demonstrators also exchanged heated arguments while pushing each other.

The protesters said that the resolution limiting the special powers of the Rangers is against Karachi’s peace and the wishes of the people.

“The government must fully restore Rangers’ powers”, they said while chanting loud slogans against the government and in favour of Rangers.

The demonstration caused a severe traffic jam on the adjacent roads. The protest continued for an hour after which the protesters dispersed peacefully.
