“Despite repeated requests, I was not allowed to meet Nawaz in jail today. The other family members and I would earlier meet him two to three times every week so that we could inquire about his health. Now we have been restricted to meeting him on just Thursdays,” Former Punjab Chief Minister said in a tweet.

He further added, “stealing [visitation] rights from mother, sister, brother and daughter to meet Nawaz is brutality and abuse.”

Hamza Shahbaz, PML-N leader and son of Shahbaz said the whole issue is been politicized by the, ‘new born politicians’.

The Information Minister for Punjab government Samsam Bukhari refuted Shahbaz’s claims and said no one prohibited Maryam and Shahbaz from visiting Nawaz in jail. He said sending Nawaz abroad is not part of the mandate.

On Monday, Maryam Nawaz, the daughter of ex-Prime Minister complained she have no access to her “unwell” father since five days.

In a tweet, Maryam said, she is waiting for permission to meet Sharif at Kot Lakhpat jail.

In tweet, Maryam said her father is ill and not even his personal physician is allowed to visit him.

She further adds, “”A humble reminder: Force of retribution never sleeps.”

In an additional tweet, she mentioned lack of communication with her father. “I am extremely worried because he had said that if, God forbid, something happened, he would not tell anyone.”

While Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar said Nawaz’s family is allowed to meet him once a week according to the jail manual and one meeting will definitely be arranged every week.

Punjab Health Minister Yasmin Rashid said Nawaz was given option of being treated at any hospital of his choosing but he wants to go to London instead.

Rashid further said a medical unit is available to Nawaz 24 hours and seven days a week. We ourselves are praying for his health and whatever court decides on Nawaz we will abide by that decision, she further said.
