Religious leader put under house arrest for 30 days

KARACHI: Maulana Taj Muhammad Hanfi, a leader of Ahle-Sunnat Wal Jamaat (ASWJ), has been put under house arrest for 30 days.

He was house arrested on the recommendation of DIG West.

The Sindh’s home department has also issued a notification in this regard.

The move comes two days after law enforcement agencies arrested Mirza Yousuf and former senator Faisal Raza Abidi.

Earlier, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah said that Faisal Raza Abidi was arrested over possession of illegal weapons, while Mirza Yousuf was arrested in different cases already registered against him.

Shah dispelled the impression that some particular community is being targeted in Karachi operation, saying that the action is being taken only against terrorists.

The chief minister appealed to the citizens to cooperate with law enforcement agencies in the ongoing operation against criminal elements.
