LAHORE: Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz Sharif have been arrested by NAB officials from Lahore Airport shortly after they returned with Etihad Airways flight EY243 from Abu Dhabi, to face imprisonment in Avenfield properties case.
According to Newsone, Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) confiscated passports of both leaders upon arrival at Lahore airport. Dozens of security officials entered the plane after it landed and asked other passengers to leave.
The duo have been boarded onto a small private plane bound for Islamabad International Airport (IIA).
According to our correspondent former prime minister Nawaz Sharif along with his daughter Maryam Nawaz have been imprisoned to Sihala rest house upon arrival at Islamabad Airport, which has been declared as sub-jail.
Meanwhile, a NAB prosecution team headed to the accountability courts to seek a judicial warrant for arrest.
Nawaz, Maryam’s Return to Pakistan
Earlier, Plane carrying ousted Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif along with his daughter Maryam Nawaz landed at Lahore Airport around 9:15pm.
The duo departed from London late Thursday and reached Abu Dhabi today. Nawaz and Maryam are anticipated to land at Allama Iqbal International Airport at 8.15pm on Friday, today.
While flying in to Abu Dhabi Airport, Maryam Nawaz tweeted a video message, in which ex-premier prodded his supporters to stand with him and encouraged them to change the fate of the country as such opportunities are few and far between.

“The country is in a critical juncture right now, I have done everything what I could have done. I acknowledge that I will be sent to jail upon my arrival in Pakistan, but I want the nation to know that I am doing this for you, and for the future of the country.”
A large number of police and rangers officials have been deployed at key entry and exit routes to avert any dicey situation, citizens need to undergo checking to enter or exit the city.
Mobile Phone service was suspended in Lahore ahead of the PML-N supremo return.
An estimated 8,000 supporters have gathered there for a rally led by his brother Shahbaz Sharif, who now heads the PML-N. Shahbaz has said they will remain peaceful.
Containers are also installed at various arteries across Lahore to stop PML-N supporters from welcoming the father-daughter duo.

NAB Chairman Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal has forewarned that strict measures will be taken against those who will violate section-144 by trying to get in the way of the arrest of the leaders, but PML-N assured the rally will be peaceful.
It is pertinent to mention here that Nawaz Sharif has been sentenced for 10 years and his daughter Maryam Nawaz for 7 years in Avenfield reference.
In 1993 Nawaz was sacked from his first term as premier for corruption, while in 1999 he was sentenced to life in prison after his second term in office ended with a military coup.
Following the coup he was allowed to go into exile in Saudi Arabia, returning in 2007 before becoming prime minister for a third time in 2013.
