ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan Thursday said that $3 million of Shaukat Khanum Memorial Trust endowment fund that was invested abroad was received back by the trust in full last year.
“For everyone’s info $ 3 m of SKMT Endowment Fund that was invested abroad was received back by SKMT in full in July 2015,” Imran wrote on his verified Twitter account.
“Anyone can chk (check) SKMT accounts to verify as they are in the public domain,” the PTI chief added.
His statement comes a few hours after PML-N leader Danyal Aziz accused Imran of investing collected funds in the name of SKMT in offshore companies.
Criticizing the PML-N, Imran said that Sharifs sidestep their wrongdoings by targeting opponents instead of answering the questions raised by Panama leaks.
“Typical of Sharifs to try & sidestep their wrongdoings by targeting opponents instead of answering questions raised by Panama leaks,” the PTI chairman said.
He accused Sharif family of attempting to damage “biggest charitable institution” in Pakistan for what he called to hide their own corruption. “Shameful how Sharifs can stoop so low as to try & damage biggest charitable institution in Pak simply to hide their own corruption.”
“Otherwise all Sharifs had to do was to call SKMTH to verify whether the money invested abroad had been returned.”
“The contradictory statements of the Sharif siblings & PM shows there is corruption & tax evasion behind it all,” Imran added.
