Stance on IMF negotiations unchanged, says Umar

ISLAMABAD: Federal Finance Minister Asad Umar said on Monday Pakistan’s stance on International Monetary Fund (IMF) negotiations remained unchanged and IMF changed its perception after witnessing improved economic situation of Pakistan.


Speaking to media, the Minister said the government reduced current account deficit by 72% as monthly deficit has got reduced to $365 million.

Minster said previous government had reserves for 7 months and 20 days stored but when Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government came to power the reserves got reduced to 15 days.

Minister announced that the IMF Chief Christine Lagarde is coming to Pakistan on Tuesday but not for negotiations as dialogues will be held later.
