Tapi gas line agreement soon to be processed, says FM Qureshi

ISLAMABAD: Speaking to a press conference on Tuesday, Federal Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said the Tapi gas line agreement will soon be processed.


FM said that views have been exchanged on economic cooperation and trade relations with Turkmenistan and Pakistan- Turkmenistan business forum will have an important role in two-way trade with the country.

FM said that two-way trade will be promoted from inclusion of private sector and both nations have trade opportunities available in the oil and gas sector. Land routes are very important for the promotion of communication among both nations.

FM said first meeting of Tapi gas line agreement working group will be held in Ashk Abad soon. FM also signed different memorandum of understandings with Turkmenistan.

FM further said that Pakistan wish to take its relationship with Turkmenistan to new heights and work on Tapi gas line will began in October 2019. FM further added that first phase of Tapi gas line will be completed in 2022.

FM Qureshi’s counterpart from Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov said various constructive measures were considered during visit to Pakistan and said he is thankful to Pakistani government for his warm welcome in the country.

Meredov said he had useful meetings with various important personalities during his visit.
