The law of NAB is black law, says Bilawal

KARACHI: Pakistan People’s Party Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said on Wednesday that the law of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) is black law which handcuffed the Sindh Assembly Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani.

Addressing a press conference with senior PPP leaders, Bilawal said that NAB should not be,” used for political engineering” and demanded NAB Chairperson Javed Iqbal to held bureau’s officers accountable otherwise, “”we [ourselves] will have to take action”.

PPP Chairperson said that the seat of Speaker Sindh Assembly, “does not belong to PPP,” adding, “attack on the Sindh Assembly is unfortunate.”

He said that Durrani was arrested without any evidence of corruption and “raiding his [Durrani’s] house after the arrest gives the message that there was no evidence”.

He said PPP is unwilling to ignore the way Durrani’s house was searched after his arrest and the way Durrani’s family was treated by the NAB officials.

“I am sad to say that the chairman NAB has till today not taken any action against this very serious accusation, on this violation of human rights, on this violence against women … no action was taken,” Bilawal said.

Bilawal further said, “this silence gives us the message that the chairperson NAB condones such actions.”

Bilawal stated that supposed actions of NAB “do not take place in any democracy” or in any law abiding civilization.
