Will eliminate militants from every corner of country: PM Nawaz

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif has said that the country is heading in the right direction while counter-terror operations are ongoing with success.


The Prime Minister expressed these views while talking to London School of Economics (LSE) Director and President, Professor Craig Calhoun.

PM Nawaz said that the government is moving towards the right direction for great future. Pakistan is desirous of friendly relations with neighbouring countries and peace in the region.

The Prime Minister told the LSE chief that operations against terror outfits are successfully continuing in the country.

He reiterated resolve to eliminate militants and facilitators wherever they might be in the country.

On the occasion, Prime Minister admired schools’ cooperation for bettering education system in Pakistan. The LSE Director told Prime Minister Nawaz that a Jinnah chair would be established in the school in tribute to founder of Pakistan, Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s efforts.

Earlier on Saturday, Prime Minister met with the renowned Indian actress Sharmila Tagore, at his residence in Jati Umra near Raiwind Lahore. PM’s daughter and Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) leader Maryam Nawaz was also present in the meeting.

Tagore had earlier arrived in the provincial capital to attend the Lahore Literary Festival (LLF) upon which PM sent an invite to the veteran celebrity. Tagore accepted PM Nawaz’s invitation and following in the footsteps of her country’s head of state Narendra Modi, arrived at the Nawaz residence.

PM Nawaz introduced the Superstar to his family and even held a lavish banquet in her honor.

Tagore has won numerous prestigious awards for her splendid performances throughout her acting career.
