Won’t meet PM Abbasi anymore for consultation on caretaker PM, says Khursheed Shah

ISLAMABAD: Opposition Leader Syed Khursheed Shah said that he would no more meet Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi for consultation on the name of the caretaker PM, Newsone reported on Thursday.

Khursheed Shah said the government is backtracking on its earlier commitment regarding the appointment of caretaker prime minister.

Shah said government has suggested Retd judges name for caretaker PM which is against the commitments as PPP also wanted to give Judges name as Caretaker PM.

“Government is backtracking from its commitments as we were told to not consider Judges name as caretaker PM,” Shah added.

It is pertinent to mention, that if both the opposition and the incumbent government of ruling Pakistan Mulsim League(Nawaz) don’t agree upon the nomitaed name, the matter will then be forwarded to parliamentary committee.

Moreover, if the committee fails to build consensus then the final verdict will be made by Election Commission of Pakistan.

According to sources, the government has suggested names of former chief justice of Pakistan Justice (R) Nasir-ul-Mulk, Justice (retd) Tassaduq Hussain Jillani  also a former chief justice and former State Bank governor Dr Shamshad Akhta

On Monday, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf(PT) had dismissed the name of Zaka Ashraf as the caretaker Prime Minister suggested by Pakistan People’s Party(PPP) to the incumbent Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi.

Furthermore, Pakistan Tehreek–e-Insaf suggested the name of former Chief Justice Justice(R) Tasadduq Jilani, and famous economist Dr. Ishrat Hussain for interim PM slot, claimed Fawad in a press conference.
