Young doctors take to streets, demand pay raise as promised

LAHORE: Young Doctors Association (YDA) on Thursday staged protests for not increasing salaries and ensuring better service structure.

The protesters while carrying placards inscribed with their demands chanted slogans against provincial governments for failing to raise their salaries.

Doctors protested outside Jinnah Hospital and Services Hospital and blocked main roads. The act badly irked locals that also sparked an exchange of harsh words.

The protesters urged the government to withdraw the decision regarding deducting 15 percent from hospitals’ budget and to promote the young doctors to Grade 18.

Meanwhile, the patients suffered a lot due to the protest. The hospital administration had to make arrangements to check the outdoor patients but there was a shortage of doctors.
