Army Chief visits NLI regimental centre in Bunji

BUNJI, ASTORE: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Friday paid a visit to the Northern Light Infantry (NLI) regimental center in Bunji town of Gilgit-Baltistan’s Astore district.


On the duration of his visit, the Army Chief conferred Lieutenant General Anwar Ali Hyder the post of Colonel Commandant of NLI Regiment.

The outgoing Colonel of NLI Regiment, Lieutenant General Ikram Ul Haq Retd, Commander Rawalpindi Corps Lieutenant General Bilal Akbar, a large number of serving and retired officers, and soldiers attended the ceremony, stated the official press statement.

COAS laid floral wreath at the gravestone of the martyrs.

COAS praised the contributions and sacrifices endured by the Regiment for the defence of the nation. Various gallantry awards, including two Nishan-i-Haider have been bestowed upon the NLI Regiment.
